In A Funk? Me too.

Ever create a goal or list of goals, get going and then fall into a funk? That’s me right now. I typically go to bed early and get up by 5:00 am, but the past couple of weeks I haven’t been able to make it happen.

It’s okay.

We have to give ourselves grace from time to time. When you get in a funk, you have to be patient with yourself and make a plan to get back on track. Beating yourself up will not help the situation.

Here are some tips for getting out of your funk:

1) Identify the Source: I think my funk is due to our recent move (not being in a routine), allergies and climate change, stress (not sure if I’ve ever admitted to that on this blog :)).

2) Make a Plan of Escape: The good news for me is that we just set our clocks back. This is the best time of year for establishing an early morning routine. See more on daylight savings here. For me, I need to go to bed early, exercise and eat well. I’ve been doing a decent job at these, so I know if I stick with them, I’ll pull out of the funk.

3) Ask for Help: Get a friend to check in with you on your goal(s). This can be via phone, text or social media. They even have apps for this purpose now.

4) Just Do It: What helps me the most is knowing how good I will feel when I do what I say I want to do, get up by 5:00 am. Imagine what it will be like to be on top of that goal again. You can do it!

Whatever your situation, no matter how bad the funk is, you don’t have to stay there. You can dig yourself out. You will feel so much better on the other side of this pothole. Now get up and go do it!

Tell me about your funk. What are you doing or getting ready to do to get out of it? Share in the comments section.
