Start With Why by Simon Sinek is a fascinating book for business owners, startups and anyone wanting to create work that matters. His encouragement is to start with why you are doing what you are doing, rather than how you are going to do it or what you are going to do. This is interesting, right?

The main idea can be summed up in this quote: “People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe.”

Sinek gives examples of companies that have done this successfully, like Apple and Southwest. These companies have essentially created a cult following. They have a culture, one that others want to join…and they do.

Sinek’s own Why is “to inspire others to do what inspires them.” To inspire others, “starts with clarity of why,” Sinek encourages. He asks the question, “If you don’t know why you do what you do, how will anybody else?”
