Listening to Jesus

Messy People

Thinking about the Woman at the Well from John 4. For that matter, consider Zacchaeus, Levi or Judas.

These people were messy.

There is part of me that has falsely come to assume that these messy people got their act together and cleared out all the messiness from their lives once they met Jesus. This belief allows me to ignore the messy people I meet when they do not get their act together.

Hmm.

I’m guessing, the messy people Jesus knew, still had some messiness after choosing to follow him. After all, I am still messy myself.

Jesus, thank you for loving the messy people. Help me to do the same.
