Work That Matters

Make It Simple

If you are busy, you may feel disoriented from time to time. You might wonder why you are running around at breakneck speed. Perhaps you feel like you are spinning too many plates and some of them are beginning to crash into pieces on the ground. Are you really making a difference?

Seasons of transition can also create a feeling of being adrift without a sense of direction. Sometimes we wander and lose focus. It can be confusing.

What is your passion? Why are here? What is your purpose in life?

These may be questions you are trying to answer right now. Perhaps you have struggled for years to figure these out.

Make it simple.

I find it helpful to my purpose journey to come back to the following fill-in-the-blank sentence from time to time. I first heard this five years ago, from Michael Hyatt, in a podcast titled, “How to Create More Margin in Your Crazy-Busy Life.” Hyatt said, “I help the most people when I’m blogging, when I’m podcasting, when I’m speaking.”

I come back to this sentence regularly. Sometimes my answer changes. Usually it does not.

What about you? How do you help the most people? Finish the sentence…
