    Write It Down

When we write things down, we learn better. You remember better when you physically write something down. You also are better able to stay focused on the most important. It helps clear your mind for increased creativity, better thinking and more learning. Writing things down brings clarity to your ideas in ways that typing does not. You are more likely to take action if you write something down.

3 Idea Addict Books To Read Next

Recently, I shared 6 Books for Idea Addicts. I have read all 6 and love them. Make sure to check out number 5. 🙂 Seriously though, all of them are on my reread list. On my list next to read are the following. I think they will be particularly helpful for Idea Addicts like me. The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer I’ve seen the author speak a few times. I wrote down a quote he shared, a few years ago. It was from one famous person to another. “You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life in our…

What Have You Learned About Community?

During the Coronavirus Crisis these last three months, I have learned a lot about community. For example, I’ve noticed that during social isolation, about half the people I talk to are experiencing greater community. Also, I have found introverts (people who get energy by being alone) who are thriving socially, as well as introverts who are struggling. Extroverts (people who get energy by being with people) are similar. Some are thriving under social isolation and others are hurting. These observations are all very interesting to me. What about you? What have you learned about community these last 3 months? Please share below.

    Healthy Habit: Embrace Boredom

This may be the most still our world has ever been. Some people are busier, sure, but many are finding they have more margin in their lives, more calm. Some might call this boredom. If you have kids, you may even be finding this to be a huge problem. You are trying to figure out how to keep your kids from being bored out of their minds. This reminds me of a book I read a few years ago. The friend who recommended it said he “no longer has time for good books. He only has time for great books and this is a great book!” I found his statement…

    Homeschool: Raising Jerks

Well, this isn’t directly related to homeschooling, but I ran across an article recently and have to share. Fair warning, parents, this is going to sting a little. I’m pretty sure I agree with every statement though. We definitely have some things to work on even though our kids aren’t jerks yet. 🙂 Take a look at the article, How to Raise a Jerk by Reggie Joiner. I love the closing question, “How would you set out to raise a jerk?” Please share your answer below.

    Healthy Habit: Sleep

You need to sleep. You need to sleep well. You need to sleep well regularly. You would think this is not something I would need someone to tell me. Turns out it was, and is still, a message I need to hear. When the worldwide lockdown began, I was two weeks into a 4 week sleep class. I’ve had some “minor” issues sleeping for a couple years now. Still figuring it out though. Trying to do all the right stuff but still not where I need to be. Here are some things relevant to everyone wanting to have good sleep hygiene: Consistent Sleep and Wake Up Time – We need…

    Listen: Create A Breath Prayer

In Scripture, God tells us to “pray without ceasing.” That may seem like an overwhelming task. In fact however, it is no task at all. It is an invitation to constant relationship with Jesus. One way Jesus followers through the centuries have prayed without ceasing is through “breath prayers.” The most famous of breath prayers is The Jesus Prayer. It goes like this, “Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” You can create your own breath prayer as well. Here are some examples: Jesus, let me feel your love. O Lord, show me your way. Holy One, heal me. Holy Wisdom, Guide me. Breath of Life,…
