Coronavirus 2: Essential and Extra

One of the side-effects of the current lockdown is that a lot of things have been removed from my life. Some of these things I miss. Some I do not. Some I don’t even notice they are gone.

This has caused me to look at what is truly important in life.

I’m asking myself, “What is essential?” and “What is extra?”

Essential are all the things, people, opportunities I really want. They are the things that are a priority for me. However, often they are not urgent, so they drop to the wayside.

Extra are all the other things that are not essential. They are not bad…or good. They are just extra.

Over and over again, in life, I find the extra crowding out the essential in my life. It is times like these that allow us to reflect on what is actually important to us.

In order to keep the essential, it is necessary to eliminate the extra. You may think organization or planning is the answer. I’m pretty good at these, but I find the best path to essential is to let go of the extra and be intentional with the essential.

What is essential in your life? What needs to take priority over all else? Please share in the comments or on social media.
